Part Time Inside Sales – Lumber and Building Supplies

Allen Lumber is a family owned and operated business providing quality lumber and building supplies to professional and retail customers in Oxford County and beyond.  In business since 1963, we are known for our high levels of customer service and our ability to find creative solutions to the problems of our customers.  We require the addition of a Part Time Inside Salesperson – Lumber and Building Supplies.

You possess enthusiasm as well as a positive attitude, enjoy dealing with people, and are willing to go the extra mile to ensure our customers receive the outstanding service experience they deserve.  You are creative, eager to learn, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills.  Sales knowledge, computer literacy, as well as a general understanding of construction techniques and materials are assets for this position.

This position requires the candidate to work most Saturdays.

Reporting to the Manager of Sales and Estimating, principal duties will include but are not limited to –

  •           Dealing face to face with contractor and retail clients regarding their construction needs.
  •           Qualifying customer’s budget and needs.
  •           Learn and understand associated products needed to complete customer projects to include in all estimates to maximize sales and profitability.
  •           Create customer orders and purchase orders as necessary to order product
  •           Maintain and improve product knowledge by attending educational workshops and training, reviewing professional publications online and in print, as well as establishing personal networks.
  •           Keep department areas organized, fresh and attractive in appearance.
  •           Be friendly, courteous and helpful to all customers and staff.
  •           Assist customers in the paint department with choice of colour and proper paint and stain
  •           Mixing paint and stain and verifying colour correctness.
  •           Learn and use company POS system to complete sales and orders.
  •           Assist in store merchandising and stock checking as required.
  •           Assume other duties and responsibilities as requested by management.
